Our 2019 festival will be a small gathering, we hope to facilitate everyone, however if there is something in particular you would like as part of the programme please contact us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or using the contact form. If you prefer to focus on traditional or contemporary only we can accommodate you.
Local stitchers from Mountmellick will facilitate classes in Mountmellick embroidery lace. Mountmellick community is passionate about keeping the tradition of Mountmellick Work alive. The main focus of the Museum is to conserve and display original pieces of Mountmellick Work (Embroidery) and to protect the memory of Mountmellick’s rich Quaker industrial past.

A Stitch in time Workshop – Stitch your own journal or notebook
Over the last year, Trudy & I have heard so many stories of the women who stitch and have stitched. It seemed appropriate to include another element of stitch in our workshops so visitors to our festival could collect their own stories.
This workshop facilitated by Angelina is an introduction to book making. Angelina has been researching medieval crafts for a project on medieval Irish women so she is looking forward to sharing elements of this technique.
All materials are included and we will also demonstrate how you might include your embroidery in the finished piece witha maximum of 5 per class. The image below of the books, flowers and thread by Frank McKenna captures the essence of our festival, inspired by nature, stitchers and stories.
